Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
I remember when the first Harry Potter movie came out and my mum took me to see it. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it – but was very surprised and asked for the book as soon as I got out of the building! I have read them ever since.
Yesterday, was the release date of Harry Potter, The Half Blood Prince. I didn’t queue up at midnight for my copy, I popped into Asda on the off-chance that there’d still be an odd book left, there was a massive pile, so I got mine and brought it home. Although I haven’t read it yet, I am quite anxious to know what happens!! The fourth book marked the return of Voldemort – with the fifth book telling us of the half-blood prince – is it Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom? I thought that the book was spoilt in that sense, I didn’t want to hear of “The Prophecy of the The One” type thing – we had that with The Matrix and even then that wasn’t as good as it could have been. But this could have had something a bit more original.
However, with the apparent death of a main character on the cards and an all-out war (I presume by skimming over the end of “The Order of the Phoenix” the new book has the chance to shine in a different way to the first five! I thought that the books until “The Prisoner of Azkaban” were a bit childish, now they have gone darker and venturing more to the rise of Voldemort and battles between good and evil wizards – which everyone loves to read about, and will most likely make great movies!
To be honest, I have never been more excited about reading a book until buying this one! I have heard two rave reviews already by people who bought it in the morning and have pretty much finished it already, so I don’t expect to be disappointed!
